Training and Technical Assistance

SARI/Equity supports the development of stronger and more effective civil society organizations whose objective it is to reduce human trafficking and violence against women and girls in the South Asia region through a series of focused training and technical assistance programs.

Project development and implementation including project design, monitoring and reporting; Skills of effectively packaging and reporting equity and gender issues to the media; Development of regional strategies for the effective implementation of policies and protocols, are the topics of a series of training programs conducted until now by SARI/Equity for more than 58 NGOs and other entities using interactive presentations and hands-on exercises as learning tools:

Two Workshops on Implementing Policy Change for the membership of the SARI/Equity supported Law Forum and members of ATSEC ("Action against Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation of Children") chapters from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

A Media and Civil Society Workshop for NGOs and media from six South Asian countries - Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

In order to build skills and capacities on Social Marketing Concepts in the three focus areas of the SARI/Equity Program three workshops were organized for different categories of stakeholders (September 19-20, 2005 for the members of the RAF on Care of Survivors; September 22-23, 2005 and September 26-27, 2005 for Regional Grantees).

Highlights of the Social Marketing Workshop conducted with the membership of the RAF on Care of Survivors.

Six Network Assessment Workshops with ATSEC Bangladesh and Nepal as well as ATSEC Tripura; Manav Seva Sansthan; South Asia Study Centre (SASC); National Network Against Girl Trafficking (NNAGT); and Solidarity Center reaching out to almost a hundred civil society organizations within the individual networks.

Strengthening the "ATSEC Regional" Structure comprising the five national chapters of ATSEC (Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka) for the effective advocacy of region-wide guidelines for cross-border repatriation and safe migration policies in the region.

Services tailored to each organization's specific needs in areas such as Strategic planning, Financial management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Participatory Program Implementation and Fund-raising are being provided by SARI/Equity upon request. Feedback thus far indicates that these capacity building activities have strengthened in many instances the program implementation capacities of civil society organizations, particularly at the grass roots levels.
