Eligibility Requirements

For the 2005 SARI/Equity Grants program, NGOs or NGO networks that exist in Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka are eligible to apply.

Prior to being considered for the Annual Program Statement 2005 for SARI/Equity Grants Program, applicants must meet the following (mandatory) eligibility requirements. Applications that do not satisfy these requirements will not be considered for further review.

The applicant must:
1. Be based in one of the target countries for this APS. Target countries for 2005 are Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka;

2. Qualify as a legally established entity, eligible to receive foreign funds;

3. Qualify as a non-governmental organization, intermediate support organization (ISO), member of a nongovernmental network or other NGO support structure. For a network to be eligible, the designated NGO as Secretariat must be eligible to receive foreign funds;

4. Demonstrate that they will provide at least fifteen percent (15%) cost share for the proposed activity. Cost sharing demonstrates a grantee’s commitment to its proposed activity and helps assure that the activity will be successfully implemented. The cost share can be in cash or in kind, as explained in the web page, Cost Share;

5. Demonstrate that they have adequate organizational and financial systems to responsibly manage grant funds. Applicants are asked to complete an AED Management Questionnaire in order to assess the applicant’s management systems.
