Fellowship Program

The SARI/Equity fellowship program provides mid-career civil society professionals from Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka with an opportunity to work on an action oriented research project for a period of 4-6 months. The fellowship program is open to professionals from all segments of civil society, including non-governmental organizations (NGOs); community based organizations (CBOs); the media; the legal profession; think tanks and research institutes.

Fellows are based in the SARI/Equity office at New Delhi and work on a specific project, related for example to trafficking in persons, Violence against women and children, migration and gender issues. SARI/Equity encourages research projects with a regional dimension.

While the fellows will benefit from an opportunity for professional development in a stimulating ‘regional’ environment, the fellowship program will also contribute to strengthening the working relationship between SARI/Equity and NGOs in the region. In addition to acquiring new skills in research and program analysis, we hope that fellows will return with a strong commitment to building the institutional capacity, advocacy and outreach skills in the home organization.

Eligibility and Requirements
Applicants should have a) an undergraduate degree and 5 to 10 years of work experience, or b) a postgraduate degree and 3 to 7 years of work experience, in areas related to Violence against women and children, trafficking in persons, migration and gender issues.

Terms of the fellowship
The fellows will be provided with a monthly stipend of 700USD, a housing allowance and return airfare to the country/place of residence. There are no provisions for dependents.

How to apply
SARI/Equity will not accept any new applications for the fellowship program for the year 2005-2006 .
