Hyderabad: Valedictory Function for over 300 “Graduates” of the CAP-SARI/Equity Skills Program

The function which was held on 24 March 2006 in the premises of the Police Academy presented the end of the beginning of a road to self-confidence and respect from others and the beginning of gainful employment and an independent life mainly for youths – male and female – who had participated in the Teen-Channel Program and other market-oriented skills training for several months and who all had found gainful employment or were close to do so.

Since many of the “graduates” belonged to “migrant communities” and other highly vulnerable segments of the population in and outside of Hyderabad, police cooperation on a number of issues had been much welcome and had been provided with generosity by many police officials. Their interest was clearly demonstrated by the presence of the Director General of Police of Andhra Pradesh and the highest officials of the Hyderabad Police.

SARI/Equity was present at the event and was able to witness the many manifestations of gratitude and joy.

For the many facets of the event, please refer to the articles that appeared in the Press.
